Choose Your Wine

A white wine sangria gives you many options to choose from, and it’s hard to choose a wine that doesn’t work. Choose an inexpensive wine. You will want a wine that’s good enough to drink on its own but that you won’t mind infusing with other flavors.

Riesling – Riesling is a highly aromatic and fruity grape variety. It can span a broad range of styles, being produced in both dry to sweet and light to full-bodied variations. It’s a great choice when searching for white wines for sangria. We recommend the Thomas Fogarty Skyline White from California’s cool Central Coast.

Pinot Grigio/Pinot Gris – This dry, light wine is perfect for a glass of sangria. It has flavors of lemons and apples and is very flavorful when combined with sliced fruit. It will bring out the fruit flavors without being overly strong. We recommend the Santa Cristina Pinot Grigio, which is straw yellow in color and has delicate aromas of orange flowers, bananas and tropical fruit.

Sauvignon Blanc – This tangy and flavorful wine will add texture and zest to your sangria. It’s one of the driest, crispest wines and has become the signature white wine of New Zealand, where it features intense green citrus and berry fruit flavors. We recommend the award-winning Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand.

Gewürztraminer – This is an aromatic grape with a sweet flavor that will kick your sangria up a notch and give it wonderful flavor. We recommend the Hugel Gewurztraminer from Alsace with its brilliant balance and depth.

If you decide to make a classic red sangria, don’t be afraid to ask our staff to also recommend red wines.

If you’re in a Jacques Scott Wines & Spirits store and see a white wine you don’t recognize, ask one of our wine experts if it will work in your sangria. We have the best wine shops in the Cayman Islands and offer free delivery for online orders.
