About Baileys Irish Cream
- Baileys Irish Cream was introduced in 1974. It was named after a restaurant in London called “Bailey’s Bistro,” but the trademark was issued without the apostrophe.
- Baileys Irish Cream contains 50% cream that comes from Irish dairy cows that live on the east coast of Ireland. Each year, more than 58 million gallons of fresh milk are used to make the popular liqueur.
- The creators mixed the cream with Irish whiskey, vanilla, and Cadbury’s Powdered Drinking Chocolate (they have since gone on to use real cocoa). They claim to have invented the perfect formula after about 45 minutes.
- Baileys Irish Cream has a shelf life of two years and is guaranteed to taste as good – opened or unopened, refrigerated or not – when stored away from direct sunlight at temperatures between 0 and 25 °C (32 and 77 °F).
