Crown Royal began as a specially created gift for the monarchy’s first visit to Canada in 1939. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth traveled by train across the breadth of the country and were given ten cases of Crown Royal. In addition to crafting the whisky just for these visitors, the gift was presented in a cut-glass decanter and velvet purple bag. The quality and presentation became known as Crown Royal, and word of the whisky quickly spread across the country.

Crown Royal Recipes
Blackberry Royal Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. Crown Royal Fine de Luxe
- 2 oz. lemon juice
- 1 ½ oz. blackberry simple syrup
- 2 oz. sparkling wine (or tonic water)
- Mint, lemon, and blackberries for garnish
Instructions:
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Add the first three ingredients to the shaker.
- Shake well until chilled.
- Strain into a glass over ice.
- Top with the sparkling wine or tonic water.
- Skewer mint, lemon, and blackberries and place as garnish.
Classic Manhattan
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Crown Royal Fine de Luxe
- ½ oz. sweet vermouth
- 3 dashes aromatic bitters
Instructions:
- Stir all three ingredients together.
- Strain into a cocktail glass.
