The original VSOP, Hennessy VSOP, was first created for the Prince Regent of Great Britain, the future King George IV. The goal, and result, was a cognac worthy of royalty, balanced but substantial.

Hennessy VSOP Manhattan
Ingredients:
- 1 ¾ oz. Hennessy VSOP
- ¾ oz. sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes of angostura bitters
- Orange twist
Instructions:
- Prepare a mixing glass with ice.
- Add Hennessy VSOP, sweet vermouth, and bitters.
- Stir for 15 seconds.
- Strain into a chilled serving glass.
- Garnish with an orange twist.
Hennessy Sazerac Cocktail
Ingredients:
- 1 ¾ Hennessy VSOP Privilege
- ⅕ oz. absinthe
- ½ oz. simple syrup
- 4 dashes of angostura bitters
- 1 lemon zest
Instructions:
- Prepare a mixing glass with ice.
- Add the Hennessy VSOP, simple syrup, and bitters.
- Stir thoroughly.
- Prepare a serving glass with a wash of absinthe and ice.
- Strain the mixing glass over the rocks.
- Garnish with the lemon twist.
Hennessy VSOP Vieux Carre Cocktail
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Hennessy VSOP Privilege
- 1 oz. sweet vermouth
- 1 oz. bourbon whisky
- 1 dash of angostura bitters
- 1 dash of peychaud bitters
- ¼ oz. benedictine
- 1 orange zest
Instructions:
- Prepare a mixing glass two-thirds full of ice.
- Add all ingredients except orange zest.
- Stir for ten seconds.
- Strain into serving glass.
- Garnish with orange zest.
Hennessy VSOP Sidecar Cocktail
Ingredients:
- 1 ¾ oz. Hennessy VSOP Privilege
- ½ oz. cointreau
- ½ oz. lemon juice
- 1 orange zest
Instructions:
- Prepare a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Add the Hennessy VSOP, cointreau, and lemon juice to the shaker.
- Shake until well-chilled.
- Strain into a serving glass.
- Garnish with the orange zest.
