The Quality of Hennessy XO
Hennessy XO is an Extra Old cognac, aged a minimum of six years, made in the Cognac region of France. This cognac has an Alcohol by Volume of 40%, so it’s considered 80 proof.
This original XO, or Extra Old, cognac was conceptualized and bottled first in 1870 at the commission of Maurice Hennessy for his personal use and for his inner circle. The XO Hennessy has a more layered flavor and darker color than the VSOP Hennessy. Blended from around 100 different eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Broderies, and Fin Bois appellations, each aged up to thirty years in French Limousin oak barrels, Hennessy XO is a luxury cognac.
