About Smirnoff
Introduced in the 1860s by its founder Pyotr Arsenievich Smirnov, this vodka brand originated in Moscow. Smirnov wanted to earn the exclusive contract to supply vodka to the Tsar of Russia and, in 1886, he did.
His achievement was short-lived, however, because the Tsar nationalized the Russian vodka industry in 1904, and Vladimir Smirnov was forced to sell his factory and brand.
Smirnoff Vodka is unaged and charcoal-filtered using a method developed by Smirnov to remove impurities. His original filtration method is still used today.
Since the 2000s, the vodka has also been available in many different flavors, some of which are Kosher-certified and gluten-free.
