What’s Open on Sunday?
In the Cayman Islands, most businesses operate from 8.30am to 5:00pm on Monday through Friday, and some are also open on Saturday mornings. Caymanians strictly observe the Sunday Sabbath, so residents and visitors know that, until recently, only hotels, restaurants, and some gas stations have been open for business on Sunday.
Bars in the Cayman Islands close at 1:00am on Monday through Friday and at midnight on Saturdays and Sundays. Nightclubs close at 2:00am on Monday through Thursday, at 3:00am on Fridays, and at midnight on Saturdays. Bars and nightclubs are never open on Sundays.
You will be happy to know that, since 2018, businesses are permitted by the Liquor Licensing Board of Grand Cayman to apply for licenses once reserved for bars. Once approved, liquor stores, convenience stores, and gas stations are allowed to sell beer, wine, and spirits on Sundays between 1pm and 7pm, with no restrictions on quantity.
