Scuba Diving on Grand Cayman

If you love to scuba dive (or are eager to learn), diving in the Cayman Islands is among the best experiences you can have. There are unique ship wrecks that have become world-famous snorkel and dive sites and spectacular marine life to see. Due to strong currents and boat and jet ski traffic, however, consider booking your trip with a licensed operator.

  • The USS Kittiwake, previously a US Navy submarine rescue vessel with five decks and endless rooms to explore, is located in West Bay near the shore of Seven Mile Beach. It can be enjoyed by all skill levels of snorkelers and scuba divers.
  • Two of Grand Cayman’s most popular dive sites – Eden Rock and Devil’s Grotto – sit side-by-side about 46 feet below the surface just south of Seven Mile Beach. Photographers love the light play and plentiful marine life at Devil’s Grotto, while Eden Rock offers small caverns, tunnels and swim-throughs. Explore Eden Rock Diving Center in George Town for dive excursions and equipment rental.
  • Sunset Reef is a short swim from the pier at Sunset House Resort in George Town. The site is popular for shore diving with its famous mermaid statue and several cavernous reefs. Rent tanks at the Sunset Divers dive shop or hire a guide to show you around the beautiful reef.

Scuba Diving on Cayman Brac

There are dozens of dive sites around Cayman Brac for new and experienced divers. The purposely sunk MV Captain Keith Tibbetts is a must-see site. It’s a Russian Koni class frigate that was sunk in 1996 to create an easily accessible artificial reef. Other suggestions include the Buccaneer Reef, Radar Reef, walls like Wilderness Wall, and Tarpon Reef with its many tunnel and crevices.

Scuba Diving on Little Cayman

Little Cayman is famous for its wall diving and healthy marine environment. The lack of a strong current here makes diving especially enjoyable for new divers. Many dives start right from the shore.  Explore the dive sites at Jackson Bight at the northwest end of the Island, or discover the excellent dive sites located along Bloody Bay Wall, a spectacular vertical wall with more than 15 different sites.

Cayman Islands diving offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view beautiful reefs, plentiful marine life, and wrecks. When you need your favorite beverages at an affordable price, visit Jacques Scott Wines & Spirits, or shop online for free delivery to your resort hotel, condo, or anywhere else on Grand Cayman.
