Enjoying December in the Cayman Islands

The most pleasant weather in the Cayman Islands is in winter. December’s daily temperatures usually range from a low of about 75°F to a high of about 83°F. There is brilliant sunshine, a constant cool sea breeze, and little rain (an average of four days during the month. Cayman Islands Marathon

If you will be on Grand Cayman in early December, an annual highlight is the Intertrust Cayman Islands Marathon. The stunning course (which is certified and is a Boston Qualifier) is flat and fast and consists of beautiful tropical flora, flawlessly landscaped homes, and magnificent views of the Caribbean. Competitors can participate in a full marathon, half marathon, 4-person relay or a run for kids. If you’d rather be a spectator and cheer for runners along the route, you’ll find the marathon a fun way to spend your morning.

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

One of the most popular Cayman events is the lighting of the Camana Bay 40-foot Christmas Tree. The waterfront town is transformed into a sparkling wonderland with inspiring musical performances by The Cayman National Choir, a Christmas craft market and a special visit from Santa Claus, and the tree lighting. The event is usually quite busy, so we recommend booking a table at one of the nearby restaurants or bars to get a great vantage point.

Parade of Lights

Another enjoyable Christmas tradition in Camana Bay is the Parade of Lights, which features boats of all shapes and sizes decked out with brightly colored holiday lights sailing into the harbor in a competition for the most magical boat. Shop at the Christmas market, enjoy carols and live music, and watch a fireworks display.

National Trust Christmas Lights Bus Tour

The National Trust offers a Christmas Lights Bus Tour with visits to modern and traditional homes decked out in Christmas decor for the holiday season, singing of Christmas carols and a true Cayman Christmas experience. Space is limited.
