You’ll enjoy sunshine and warmth throughout the year in the Cayman Islands, but January typically delivers some of the most enjoyable weather.

Cayman Islands January Weather

Cayman Islands Weather in JanuaryThe Cayman Islands have a tropical marine climate, and the weather is always beautiful. Known as “high season” or “dry season,” winter is the most popular time of year, thanks to bright sunshine, little rain, and delightful sea breezes. January and February are the coolest months (average high 75° F/24° C; average low 68° F/20° C). November and April are the warmest of the season (average high 86° F/30° C; average low 72° F/22° C).

Get Acquainted with the Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands are an overseas territory of the United Kingdom. Grand Cayman and her smaller siblings – Little Cayman and Cayman Brac – are located 150 miles south of Cuba, 180 miles northwest of Jamaica, and just over one hour by air from Miami, Florida.

Grand Cayman is the largest of our three Islands and the location of our colorful capital, George Town. The Island is only about 22 miles long, but packed with spectacular beaches and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Cayman Brac, about 89 miles to the northeast, is smaller (about 12 miles long), but has the most spectacular terrain of the three islands, while Little Cayman, five miles west of Cayman Brac, is even smaller (about 10 miles long) but is a nature lover’s dream.

Things to Do on Grand Cayman in January

During January in Grand Cayman, head to The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman on Seven Mile Beach for the annual Cayman Cookout, where you can enjoy cooking demonstrations, tastings, tours, dinners and wine pairings from world-renowned celebrity chefs and mixology experts over four fun-filled days.

One of Grand Cayman’s hidden gems is the Cayman Crystal Caves, a geologic wonder that is situated in a lush tropical forest in North Side. The caves took millions of years to form as seawater erosion created caverns filled with stalagmites, stalactites, crystal-like mineral deposits, and a gorgeous interior lake. They can be toured daily (except Good Friday and Christmas Day).

If you love to hike, consider Grand Cayman’s Mastic Reserve Trail, where you can enjoy our island’s stunning scenery and local birds and wildlife. This historic trail is a lesser-known but worthwhile attraction on the north side of the Island that will lead you through mangroves and old-growth forest on a satisfying four-mile round-trip hike. Self-guided leaflets are available from the National Trust’s visitor center.
