March Weather in the Cayman Islands

November through April are considered our winter months. This “high season” or “dry season” is the most popular time for people to visit, most likely because they are running away from cold, cruel winter weather at home.

If dry weather with low humidity is what you’re after, visit our tropical paradise in March.  You’ll find lots of sunshine, partly cloudy conditions, little rain, and refreshing cool sea breezes in winter, with average high temperatures from 75°-86°F/24°-30°C; average lows of 68°-72°F/20°- 22°C; and water temperatures that range from 78° to 82°F.

Things to Do on Grand Cayman in March

Stingray City & Cayman Turtle Farm: The top two tourist attractions on Grand Cayman are Stingray City, where you can interact with the majestic, graceful Caymans Southern Stingrays that inhabit the shallow waters surrounding the Islands, and the Cayman Turtle Farm, where you can swim and snorkel with thousands of Green Sea Turtles in a 1.3-million-gallon saltwater lagoon. When cruise passengers are in George Town, them to be packed with people.

Starfish Point – This beach on the northeast tip of Grand Cayman, also called Ivory Kai Point or Starfish Beach, features crystal-clear water that is often full of amazing wild orange Cushion Starfish. Depending on the season and tide, they gather here to feed on micro-organisms found on the seabed. Snap photos, but don’t remove starfish from the water or even think about keeping one (they’re protected by law; don’t risk a fine or prison time).

Mastic Trail – Love to hike? You won’t find mountains to climb on Grand Cayman because the highest point is only 79 feet above sea level. But that doesn’t mean our tropical paradise has no mellow walks where you can enjoy the stunning scenery and local birds and wildlife. The historic Mastic Reserve Trail is a lesser-known but worthwhile attraction on the north side of the Island that will lead you through mangroves and old-growth forest on a satisfying four-mile round-trip hike.

Crystal Caves – Situated in a lush tropical forest in North Side, Grand Cayman, this geologic wonder took millions of years to form as seawater erosion created caverns filled with stalagmites, stalactites, crystal-like mineral deposits, and a gorgeous interior lake. The caverns here at Crystal Caves are rumored to have been a pirate hideout, and several of them are available for daily tours (except Good Friday and Christmas Day).
