What is Craft Beer?

Craft Beer Brewed on Grand CaymanCraft beer is usually defined as beer that is made by a small, independent brewery in the traditional way. They are often made with higher quality, fresher, and sometimes even locally-grown or organic hand-selected ingredients.

There are almost 1,600 craft breweries in the United States brewing thousands of delicious, flavorful craft beers, but you can seek out craft beers wherever you go. In fact, spending money on local craft beers is a great way to support the local business and community.

Cayman Islands Craft Beer

Cayman Islands Brewery (CIB) was launched in 2007 and is the only brewery on Grand Cayman. Since inception, they have launched 10 beer brands and 3 seasonal beers.

Although we are famous for our pristine desalinated water in the Cayman Islands, CIB purifies the water they use to 99.9, which means you’ll enjoy the freshest beer in the Caribbean. Also, 50% of their brewing process uses self-generated N2, significantly reducing their need for imported CO2 and helping to minimize their carbon footprint.

Regular and seasonal beers from CIB include:

  • Caybrew is a full-bodied premium pale lager with a clean, crisp character and is the brewery’s flagship product. It has been awarded an international gold medal for quality.
  • Caybrew Premium Light is a light lager with only 95 calories and 2.4 grams of carbs. It’s also specially crafted to remove the gluten.
  • 345 Lager is a crisp and refreshing light lager and one of the Islands’ most popular beers.
  • White Tip Lager is a smooth, moderate-bodied pilsner and the world’s first conservation beer. Part of the profits are donated to Cayman Marine Conservation.
  • Ironshore Bock is an amber beer that is brewed with specialty hops from the Cascade Mountains to 7% and aged in rum barrels.
  • Mango Tango is a limited-edition seasonal craft beer that features tropical mango and a hint of coconut.
  • 345 Stout is bold, strong stout with a dark rich chocolate flavor that is brewed with specialty, dark aromatic malts and aged in rum barrels.
