June Weather in Grand Cayman

While the months of May through November are considered the “wet” season in the Cayman Islands, June is a great time to enjoy daily temperatures averaging between 80°F and 88°F. As you would expect, this time of year has a chance of overcast or mostly cloudy conditions, so be prepared for a rain shower or two and some humidity.

Water temperatures in the mid-80s make the ocean feel more like a bathtub. The clear, calm waters are perfect for snorkeling, diving, sailing and fishing. You will also find the beaches less crowded during this off-season period.

The annual hurricane season runs from June to November, but the chances of a direct hit are slim. Storms generally turn northward before reaching the Caymans due to the islands’ extreme westerly Caribbean location.

June Events on Grand Cayman

The Cayman Islands celebrate the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, the British monarch, in June. The public holiday is typically observed on the second Saturday of the month with a parade in the capital of George Town and other festivities.

June is also time for one of Grand Cayman’s flagship sporting events, the Flowers One Mile Sea Swim.  The annual event has been held for nearly three decades and has been named one of the World’s Top 13 Open Water Swims. With flawless course conditions along beautiful Seven Mile Beach, the race welcomes swimmers of all ages and abilities from around the globe and awards over $100,000 in cash and prizes.

Another annual June event is the CayFilm Cayman International Film Festival, a multi-day celebration of the Cayman Islands as a world-class filming destination and incredible place to visit and do business. The festival features daily film screenings, question and answer sessions with filmmakers, panel discussions, workshops, an exclusive premiere screening, and a celebrity gala event.

Whether you decide to visit Grand Cayman in June or any other time of the year, there is always something fun to do. For more tips or recommendations, visit Jacques Scott Wines & Spirits at any of our six locations.
