Why Go Local?

Cayman Islands Brewery (CIB) was launched in 2007 and is the only brewery on Grand Cayman. Since their inception, they have launched 10 beer brands and 3 seasonal beers. Whether you are visiting Grand Cayman or live on Island, there are some great reasons to expand your horizons and try their local brews.

Support the local economy: Buying local beer is a great way to drink the freshest, best-tasting beer and support the local economy. Many local breweries use locally sourced ingredients and fund local projects to support their communities. CIB, for example, donates to Cayman Marine Conservation and works closely with many Cayman organizations to sponsor events and raise money for local charities.

Support sustainable brewing: Many local breweries ply their craft in a sustainable manner. CIB prides themselves on environmentally friendly production and distribution, including re-using their bottles and recycling cans, cardboard, wastewater and spent grains. About 50% of their brewing process uses self-generated N2, which significantly reduces their demand for imported CO2 and helps to minimize their carbon footprint.

Support the creativity: How many styles of beer do most big commercial beer companies make? Typically, not many. Now consider the variations available from small local breweries like CIB. At any given time of year, you’ll find a stout, an amber, an IPA, and a tropical fruit beer, each ready to match your mood. Buying local beers helps encourage the brewery’s creativity.

There is something for everyone at CIB:

  • Caybrew is a full-bodied premium lager with a clean, crisp character and is the brewery’s flagship product.
  • Caybrew Light is a premium light lager with only 95 calories and 2.4 grams of carbs. It’s also specially crafted to remove the gluten.
  • 345 Lager is crisp and refreshing and one of the Islands’ most popular beers.
  • 345 Stout is bold, strong stout with a dark rich chocolate flavor that is brewed with specialty, dark aromatic malts and aged in rum barrels.
  • Ironshore Bock is an amber beer that is brewed to 7% with specialty hops from the Cascade Mountains and aged in rum barrels.
  • White Tip Lager is a smooth, moderate-bodied pilsner and the world’s first conservation beer.
  • Shell Shock IPA is a light bodied, golden ale bursting with aromatic hops that boast big bold flavors of citrus and grapefruit.
  • Mango Tango is a limited-edition seasonal craft beer that features tropical mango and a hint of coconut.
