Wedding Options on Grand Cayman

There are few destinations in the world that offer as many choices as Grand Cayman for weddings and receptions.

If you want a traditional ceremony in a quaint chapel or a majestic church, you will find more than 100 churches here representing almost every faith and denomination.

Grand Cayman’s five-star luxury resorts are also an excellent choice. At the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, for example, ceremonies and receptions can be set up on their Great Lawn, on the hotel’s private beach, or in the hotel ballroom. The Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman offers a rooftop sun terrace with panoramic island views. Most resorts offer a wide range of wedding packages.

For something more intimate, consider tying the knot on Grand Cayman’s powdery white sand Seven Mile Beach, consistently voted by travel magazines as one of the top 10 beaches in the world for a romantic wedding. Many condos, hotels and resorts along the beach offer wedding services.

Grand Cayman also has some other unique wedding ceremony options to consider:

  • Pedro St. James National Historic Site includes a three-story great house called the “Castle,” built in 1780, and spectacular tropical gardens that make a stunning wedding location for intimate gatherings and large groups of 800 or more.
  • Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park also has beautiful tropical gardens and manicured lawns that can host up to 150 people. The Park is open from 9am to 5.30pm daily and evening weddings can be arranged from 5pm until midnight.
  • The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands in George Town offers beautifully landscaped sculpture gardens and a large space perfect for a wedding with a pavilion and tree-lined avenue.

How Much Wine Will You Need?

A good rule of thumb for determining how many bottles of wine you will need at your wedding is to divide the total number of guests by 2.15. If you expect 100 guests at the event, for example, you will need about 46 bottles. Consider a mix of about 30% each of red, white, and sparkling wine. You can safely order 30% fewer bottles if you also plan to serve beer or cocktails.
