Shop for Caribbean Rum

The sugar-rich islands of the Caribbean and West Indies were the birthplace of rum production in the 17th century and still produce the majority of it today. At Jacques Scott Wines & Spirits, you can purchase some of the most sought-after brands of rums in the world at incredibly low prices. Here are a few you may not recognize:

Barbados Mount Gay Rum from Barbados is the world’s oldest existing commercial brand of rum, dating from about 1703. Its distilleries are in the northern part of the island where the Island’s best sugarcane originates.

Bermuda – The Gosling family has been blending rum in Bermuda since 1806. Their distinctive black rum, the award-winning Gosling’s Black Seal, is the rum that is mixed with ginger beer to create Bermuda’s national drink, the Dark ‘N’ Stormy cocktail,.

Cayman Islands – Award-winning Seven Fathoms golden rums are made with local ingredients, including sugarcane from Grand Cayman’s East End. The rum is aged in American White Oak bourbon barrels seven fathoms under water in a secret location off the coast of the Grand Cayman.

Martinique – In 1887, Homère Clément bought a sugarcane plantation in Martinique and pioneered “rhum agricole,” a style of rum distilled from freshly squeezed sugarcane juice instead of molasses. Rhum Clement is among the most renowned Martinique rums.

Nicaragua Flor de Caña was founded in 1937 in Nicaragua and is still run by the founder’s descendants. The rum is made with molasses from estate-grown sugar cane, then distilled five times and aged in American white oak casks.
