Penedès
The Italian wine region of Penedès is located about one hour south of the bustling Catalan capital of Barcelona. Its climate is unsurprisingly Mediterranean, with warm summers and mild winters.
Penedès, the largest wine producing region in Catalonia, is home to some excellent dry reds, some delicious dessert wines, and may be most famous for production of Italian Cava (sparkling wine), but 80% of the wines they produce are white.

The wine is made from the Parellada grape, a light apple- and citrus-flavored Catalan grape that is one of the components of Cava. Rueda
Rueda is located on the Duero river in the Castilla y Leon region in northern Spain about 90 miles northwest of the Spanish capital, Madrid. The region enjoys a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters.
Rueda is known for its dry, crisp, aromatic white wines made predominantly from the Verdejo grape, which occupies about 90 percent of the land area and is Spain’s most popular white wine. Verdejo is thought to have originated in Northern Africa, has been prevalent in the Rueda region for more than 1,000 years, and is grown almost nowhere else in Europe.
