Unique Things to See and Do on Grand Cayman

Depending on how much time you have to spend in Grand Cayman, these attractions offer unforgettable experiences.

Rum Point Beach: Seven Mile Beach is known as “The Caribbean’s Best Beach,” but it’s often crowded with people. For a more tranquil day, head to the North Side of Grand Cayman, about 10 miles from George Town, where you can lounge in a hammock on Rum Point Beach in the shade of the Casuarina trees and snorkel and swim with sea turtles, sting rays, parrot fish and lobsters.

Cayman Turtle Farm: The Cayman Turtle Farm is the only facility of its kind in the world. Thousands of Hawksbill and Green Sea Turtles, the largest of the hard-shelled sea turtles and the second largest of all turtle species, make this 23-acre marine adventure park with its 1/3-million-gallon saltwater lagoon home. If you would like to see the turtle hatchery, visit between May and October.

Stingray City: Stingray City is located on the North Sound of Grand Cayman and is a quick 30-minute boat ride from shore. Learn about the biology and behavior of graceful Southern Stingrays while you observe them in their natural habitat, hold them, feed them with squid treats, and even swim alongside them. Many tour operators include snorkeling tours (equipment included) to Coral Gardens, the popular nearby coral reef that’s known for its abundant marine life.

Crystal Caves: This geologic wonder, situated in a lush tropical forest in North Side, took millions of years to form with seawater erosion creating caverns filled with stalagmites, stalactites, crystal-like mineral deposits, and a gorgeous interior lake. Rumored to have once been a pirate hideout, several of the Cayman Crystal Caves are now available for daily tours (except Good Friday and Christmas Day).

Cayman Spirits Company Distillery Tour: In George Town, stop in at Cayman’s first and only distillery for a behind-the-scenes look at the distilling processes for their award-winning Seven Fathoms Rum, which is aged in wooden barrels located seven fathoms underwater, and Gun Bay Vodka. Experience this working distillery and enjoy some samples of their rums, vodkas and liqueurs.
