Must-Do Activities in the Cayman Islands

Stingray City: Thousands of tourists visit Stingray City on Grand Cayman each day by boat, and walk, swim, and snorkel in the midst of the stingrays that roam free in an area of the ocean protected by offshore reefs. The stingrays are large, friendly, and love to be petted.

Cayman Turtle Farm: The world-renowned 23-acre Cayman Turtle Farm on Grand Cayman is a marine adventure park that is home to more than 7,000 Green Sea Turtles. They are the largest of the hard-shelled sea turtles and the second largest of all turtle species. Some of them weigh more than 500 pounds.

Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park: This beautiful 65-acre botanic park is paradise if you love flora and fauna. Vibrant, colorful gardens will treat you to all kinds of rare, beautiful flowers, such as the rare Ghost Orchid, the Banana Orchid (Cayman’s national flower) and endemic animal species, such as the Cayman Blue Iguana, which is found nowhere else on earth.

Cayman Crystal Caves: The Crystal Caves are a geologic wonder. They took millions of years to form as seawater erosion created caverns filled with stalagmites, stalactites, crystal-like mineral deposits, and a gorgeous interior lake. You’ll find the caves in a lush tropical forest in North Side, Grand Cayman and can now tour three of them daily (except Good Friday and Christmas Day).

Snorkel the Wreck of the Gamma: Located near George Town at the southern end of Seven Mile Beach, the wreck of the Gamma is a great location for snorkeling. It’s just 12 feet from shore in shallow water and is easy to spot because it protrudes above the surface. The clarity of the water makes it easy to see all the marine life. There are few shipwrecks in the Cayman Islands, and this one is ideal even for children, beginning snorkelers, and those who are less than confident swimmers.

Cayman Spirits Company Distillery: See how rum is made by taking a guided tour of the Cayman Spirits Company distillery to learn about their process for making their award-winning Seven Fathoms golden rums with local. The rum is aged in American White Oak bourbon barrels seven fathoms deep under water in a secret location off the coast of the Grand Cayman.
