Spectacular Seven Mile Beach

Often voted “The Caribbean’s Best Beach”, Seven Mile Beach is actually only about 6 miles long, but is packed with most of Grand Cayman’s best hotels and condos and some of the best cuisine in the Caribbean.

All of Seven Mile Beach is considered public property up to the water line, including the stretches of beach directly in front of resorts. Nothing is fenced in, and you can walk the entire length of the beach along the water without paying any admission fees.

You won’t be allowed to put your towel down in front of a condo building or hotel complex, or use their facilities, however, unless you have permission from the owners or management (or have purchased a resort day pass). Instead, explore several of the public beaches, such as Governor’s Beach, Public Beach (next to Calico Jack’s beach bar), and Cemetery Beach (which offers some of the best snorkeling in Grand Cayman).

All along the beach, you’ll find opportunities for bicycle, kayak, paddle board, jet ski, kite surfing, and snorkel gear rentals, as well as operators who will take you parasailing, or simply lounge under a Casuarina tree on the glorious white sandy beach with an umbrella drink in your hand and enjoy your day.

If you plan to drive around Grand Cayman, watch for “Beach Access” signs along the road, park, and follow the paths to the beach. Smith Barcadere (formerly Smith’s Cove) in South Sound and Spotts Beach in the Spotts Newlands part of Grand Cayman (near Bodden Town) are excellent choices. You are bound to discover some beautiful hidden gems!

Fishing is popular throughout the year in the Cayman Islands, and you’ll have a choice of reef and deep-sea fishing trips from a variety of private charter services, such as the family owned and operated Slackem Fishing Charters.

With crystal clear waters, flourishing coral reefs and a different dive site for all 365 days of the year and all skill levels, Cayman is known around the world for its phenomenal diving. Experience dramatic wall dives, superb wreck sites, accessible shore options, and even adventurous night dives. Dive operators like Ambassador Divers (located right behind the Comfort Suites Resort on Seven Mile Beach) is highly regarded.

The Cayman Islands offer some of the best sightseeing in the world for residents and visitors alike. Stop in at one of our Jacques Scott Wines & Spirits liquor stores for more tips on what there is to do at Seven Mile Beach and elsewhere on Grand Cayman!
