Be Adventurous

We stock an extensive selection of wines from around the world, including award-winning wines from Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Chile, Spain, Portugal and South Africa. Here are a few of our favorites to kick-start your wine adventures:

Australia: Australia ranks sixth in the world in wine production, and Shiraz is one of its most popular. It has dark fruit flavors from sweet blueberry to savory black olive, a very full-bodied taste, and contains high amounts of healthy antioxidants. We recommend the award-winning Yellow Tail Shiraz from South Australia paired with meat.

California: Chardonnay is the world’s most famous white wine grape, but chardonnays from California are among the most highly regarded. We recommend the Au Contraire Russian River Valley Chardonnay. It pairs well with mild cheeses, seafood, chicken, pork and fruity desserts.

Chile: For a delicious medium-bodied red wine, try the excellent Vina Maipo Carménère from Chile’s Rapel Valley. It’s admired for its red-and-black berry flavors, hints of coffee and spicy notes and is similar in body and texture to Merlot. It pairs well with nearly every type of food but is particularly good with roasted pork ribs.

France: Chapoutier Chateauneuf-du-Pape La Bernardine from France’s Rhone Valley is 100% Grenache and earns high praise from critics. It tastes of black cherry and has low to medium tannins. It would be a match made in heaven with lamb, pork, or poultry.

Italy: From one of the oldest grape families in the world, the best examples of the refreshing aromatic and floral Moscato (or Muscat) wine come from Italy, France and Spain. Try Cavit Moscato from Lombardy, Italy, paired with seafood or cheese.

New Zealand: Sauvignon Blanc is one of the driest, crispest white wines and is now the benchmark white wine of New Zealand, where it has intense green citrus and berry fruit flavors. The award-winning Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc from the Wairau Valley is a great choice.

South Africa: Treat yourself or your guests to a delicious red wine – the award-winning Southern Right Pinotage from the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in Walker Bay. This is South Africa’s signature grape. A cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsaut, it features complex berry fruit, beautiful tannins and subtle wood spice. It pairs well with beef.

As a well-known wine company in Grand Cayman, Jacques Scott Wines & Spirits carries your old favorites and other interesting wines that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.
