Where Can I Buy Whiskey in Cayman Islands

Scotch Whisky

To be called Scotch, the spirit must be made in Scotland from water and malted barley and be aged for no less than three years. This is a whisky that should be sipped neat, and it makes an excellent after-dinner drink.

If you love Johnnie Walker Scotch, Jacques Scott Wines & Sprits stocks all colors, from the best-selling Johnnie Walker Red Label to the iconic Johnnie Walker Blue Label, one of the most sought-after whiskies in the world.

Whisky lovers have many other superb choices as well, such as Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Ardbeg, The Balvenie, The Macallan, Bruichladdich, Chivas Regal, Glenfiddich, and Buchanan Scotch Whisky.

Irish Whiskey

Irish whiskey has a smoother, lighter, and fruitier flavor than other types of whiskey. It is traditionally distilled in a copper pot instead of the double distillation that’s popular in Scotland. It’s made from a mash of barley and grains, can only be distilled using water and caramel coloring, and must be distilled in wooden casks for at least three years. The result is a whiskey that’s easy to sip neat or on the rocks, although it can be used in cocktails. We enthusiastically recommend Bushmills, Jameson, Black Bush, and Teeling Irish Whiskeys.

American Bourbon Whiskey

Bourbon has been distilled in the United States since the 18th century. To classify as “Bourbon,” the law requires it to be made of 51% corn mash, aged in new charred oak barrels, and remain under 80% alcohol by volume. Approximately 95% of this spirit comes from the state of Kentucky.

The Woodford Reserve Distillery has been distilling on the same site since 1780, making it practically the inventor of the spirit we know and love today. The self-proclaimed “World’s Finest Bourbon,” Jim Beam Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, is the No. 1 selling bourbon brand in the world. The company has brewed their whiskey with the same formula of corn, rye, and barley for 222 years.

Other excellent choices include Bulleit Frontier Whiskey and Maker’s Mark Bourbon from Kentucky, Swindler’s Light Whiskey which is handcrafted in Colorado, and Jack Daniel’s (technically a “Tennessee Whiskey”).

Canadian Whisky

Crown Royal is “THE” Canadian Whisky (they spell it without the “e”). It was introduced in 1939 as a tribute to the royal visit of King George VI and his wife, Queen Elizabeth, the first of a reigning monarch to Canada, and was available only in Canada until 1964. It’s smooth, sweet, and can be used in a variety of different cocktails. We also heartily recommend Canadian Club Whisky, popularly known as “CC.”
