Hennessy produces a quality product line of outstanding cognacs, and Hennessy Black stands out as a variety with extraordinary characteristics. It has a 43% Alcohol by Volume, or 80 proof, and is made in the Cognac region of France.

Launched in 2009, Hennessy Black consists of 45 distinct eaux-de-vie, each aged for a minimum of two years in French Limousin oak barrels. The blend is then also aged for another five years. The resulting color is a luxurious dark gold. Hennessy Black is a cognac made for mixing but can also be enjoyed straight, neat or on ice.

Hennessy Black smell and tasting notes include jasmine, citrus, and honey that work well within cocktails but can be overwhelming on their own. The age of the cognac creates a smooth finish.

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz. Hennessy Black
  • 1 bottle of merlot
  • 1 pint raspberries
  • 1 pint blackberries
  • 1 pint blueberries
  • 1 pint strawberries
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 12 oz. cranberry or cran-raspberry juice
  • 12 oz. club soda

Instructions:

  1. Fill a punch bowl with ice.
  2. Add each ingredient, other than Hennessy and soda.
  3. Garnish with the fruits.
  4. Refrigerate for 12 hours.
  5. Add Hennessy and club soda before serving.

Hennessy Black Maple

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. Hennessy Black
  • ¼ oz. maple syrup
  • Club soda

Instructions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add Hennessy Black and maple syrup.
  2. Shake thoroughly until well-chilled.
  3. Strain into a shot glass.
  4. Top off with club soda.

Hennessy Black Spiced Apple

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz. Hennessy Black
  • ¾ oz. falernum
  • 1 oz. apple juice
  • 4 dashes angostura bitters
  • Splash of lemon juice
  • Cinnamon stick, grated

Instructions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add all liquid ingredients.
  2. Shake until well-chilled.
  3. Strain into a serving glass over ice.
  4. Garnish with the grated cinnamon and stick.
