Toast to the Memories with Champagne from the House of Taittinger

Jacques Scott Wines & Spirits has three beauties from this brand within our inventory. Come to us for Taittinger Reserve Brut Champagne, Taittinger Prestige Rosé, and Domaine Carneros Brut.

This brand’s roots trace back three centuries. In 1734, the Forest-Fourneaux champagne house was founded in a collaboration with Benedictine monks to perfect the art of producing sparkling wine. When the difficulties of the 1930s began to affect the company, a buyer emerged, with the name of Taittinger.

Shockingly, the purchase included some of the original vineyards the monks grew 200 years earlier.

After acquiring the House of Champagne, Taittinger became a leading brand and one of the most prestigious Champagne creators. In fact, the Taittinger House of Champagne joined a syndicate of the great Champagne producers during the 1950s.

Today, the House of Taittinger produces 5-6 million bottles of Champagne each year. The company is one of the top five producers in the world.

Many Champagne houses purchase grapes, focusing on production rather than vineyards. However, the House of Taittinger grows 700+ acres of its own grapes, one of the largest grape producers in the region. Even with this massive harvest, the company must still buy 50% of the grapes that they use to produce their various Champagnes.

The Taittinger Brut Reserve is made of 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, and 25% Pinot Meunier and aged for a minimum of 3 years. It has 12.3% ABV, notes of fruit, white flowers, and vanilla, a fresh entry, and flavors of honey and fruit.

The Taittinger Prestige Rosé has 12.5% ABV, contains 15% still red wine (Pinot Noir), and 30% Chardonnay for a brilliant color, intense flavor, sweet taste, and delightful flavor of fresh red fruits.

Finally, the Domaine Carneros Brut is a Californian sparkling wine; however, it is produced as an extension of the House of Taittinger and honors the traditional methods and quality expected of the name.

When ordering a bottle, be careful how you pronounce the name. While it may look like Tat·in·gur to English speakers, it is pronounced as Tet·ahn·zhay.

Before you buy the typical champagne while on Grand Cayman, consider an under the radar star: Taittinger. Jacques Scott Wines & Spirits welcomes your online order or visit to one of our six locations.
