Winter in the Cayman Islands (November – April)
“High season” or “dry season” in the Cayman Islands is the most popular time for people to visit, probably because they are escaping cold, cruel winter weather at home. If dry weather with low humidity are what you’re after, visit our tropical paradise in February, March or April. We have lots of sunshine, little rain, and refreshing sea breezes in winter, with average high temperatures from 75°-86°F/24°-30°C; average lows of 68°-72°F/20°- 22°C; and water temperatures that range from 78° to 82°F.
Summer in the Cayman Islands (May – October)
If you’re looking for the warmest time to visit the Cayman Islands, the hottest months are August, when highs are regularly around 89°F/ 31.7°C, followed by July and then September. During this “off season” or “wet season,” you’ll experience the most rain from May to June and again from September to October, but temperatures (including water temperatures) are also warmer, averaging 87°-90°F/30°-32°C. Hurricane Season (June – November)
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 1 in the Atlantic, but the likelihood of a hurricane is doubtful. The Cayman Islands are far enough west that most storms passing through the Caribbean Sea turn northward before they reach us. However, the water can be choppy, especially during August and September, so take this into consideration if your vacation plans include our world-class scuba diving destinations.
Annual Festivals You May Enjoy
May –Cayman Carnival Batabano is the Island’s national carnival. The festival is named in honor of Cayman’s turtling heritage – the word “Batabano” refers to the tracks left in the sand by sea turtles as they crawl onto the beach to nest. Attendees enjoy colorful costumes, parade floats, vibrant Island music and more.
October –Cayman Cocktail Week highlights the cocktail culture of Cayman’s best bartenders, bars and restaurants with an incredible array of cocktail parties, culinary events and tastings. Meet top industry professionals, learn how to make-your-own gin, or go on a historical cocktail tour.
